Veteran Resources
This page is currently being developed to connect veterans, service members, and their families with trusted resources, support services, and community-based assistance. In the future, this section will include local programs throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, including benefits guidance, mental health support, housing assistance, peer connection, family resources, and veteran-focused community organizations.
For veterans in Northeastern Pennsylvania, a good place to start is the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, located at 1111 East End Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, PA, which provides VA health care and can help connect veterans with additional services. The main phone number is 570-824-3521.
Veterans and families may also contact the Scranton Vet Center, located at 1002 Pittston Avenue, Scranton, PA, for counseling, peer support, family support, and other services for eligible veterans, service members, and their loved ones. The phone number is 570-344-2676.
For help with benefits, claims, discharge paperwork, records, or local veteran services, veterans may also reach out to their county Veterans Affairs office. In our region, this includes the Lackawanna County Veterans Affairs Office in Scranton and the Luzerne County Veteran Affairs Office in Wilkes-Barre. Luzerne County’s office is listed at 61-63 Water Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, by appointment, with a phone number of 570-706-3960.
National resources are also available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Crisis Line, Disabled American Veterans, and other veteran service organizations. If you or someone you love is in crisis, call 988, then Press 1, text 838255, or chat online with the Veterans Crisis Line for free, confidential support 24/7.
